Help Others.org: Acts of Kindness

I ran across this website quite awhile ago and have ordered “Smile Cards” repeatedly.  It just kind of fits in with my whole trying to have a positive outlook on life.   I find that if I try to have a positive outlook on things I feel better about myself and about people around me. And let’s face it—focusing on others instead of myself is a much better thing to do in this world!!!  Leads to a much healthier life, I think.

Anyway, this is a great place to read about some great ideas of how you can make a difference in someone’s life without a huge investment.  From sending greeting cards to paying for a cart at the local discount grocery store—-the ideas are endless.   They actually have cards that you can give along with your “gift” to encourage the receiver to do the same or something similar for another person.  It works!

Some of the ways I have used the cards have been to pay tolls at the toll booth.  The last time I did it the toll booth lady asked if I knew the person behind me –nope.  So she asked if it was okay if she saved the money for the next person that came through that did not have the toll fee.  Absolutely!!!  Awesome idea, lady!!!

What I have done lately is to leave a card with along with an incredibly fabulous tip in a restaurant for a waitress who has taken a little bit of time and gone above and beyond.   Imagine if it were you—a struggling minimum wage worker , student perhaps, who just was trying to make a school loan payment or pay the rent for the week and walaa—a huge tip was left on your table.  Just think how great your night would be!!!
Of course you don’t have to actually spend money to make a difference! There are a million zillion ways to spread the love—check out the website below for ideas, order some cards of your own and share your stories.  And as always, feel free to comment.  I love comments!!!
