I don't know how we did it but we had 2 PERFECT days in a row!!! I think God knew we needed it or something but what a fabulous time we have had in California!!! On Sunday we met our beautiful niece, Rebekah, who is getting her masters in choreography and performance (I think those are the official terms) at Mills College in Oakland. She is on her second semester of 4 and doing fabulously and it was incredible to be able to spend an entire day with her. We met her in Napa and then … [Read more...]
A Perfect Day
Every once in awhile you get them. Those perfect days when everything goes as planned. This was one of those days. It was simply perfect. The weather was perfect. The company, of course, was perfect. The food we had--perfect. The animals we saw--perfect. We were so blessed on this day at Point Reyes to have an incredible day with everything going exactly as we had hoped. That does not happen every time you plan a trip but it sure did today. Took awhile to get a good internet … [Read more...]
Hail to the Chief
My life can be kind of weird. Just saying. But as someone told me--it would make a great blog post!!! So here you go! My Mr. Wonderful planned a little get away for us around his work schedule before we make the official move back to Iowa from Ohio. He has a business trip to California so we are doing a quick get away. The problem was how I was going to get to the Detroit airport. Yes, I could drive but we really did not want to leave my car there as we are going to be driving … [Read more...]
Realizations
Today I got my hair done by my favorite Ohio Aveda stylist, Cirrus. I know!!! She has a great name!!! If you are not familiar with Aveda products there is a lot of chemistry involved. The color (yes---I color my hair--don't hate me!) is measured out and mixed together to make magic on my head. I usually have 3 bowls of magic to achieve the look. It is a pretty cool process, actually, and I got hooked on Aveda salons in Mason City when my stylist moved there. I love the attention … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday
This little beauty is one that I am "inheriting" from the house here in Lima. I remember one time when Chris's folks came to see us in Mooresville they went to "Cotton" Ketchie's gallery and bought 3 pieces for their family room to put on display on the fireplace wall where there are 3 little shelves that jut out. They were very excited about them and this was one of them so I will always have sweet memories when I look at it! … [Read more...]
Harry With the Hole in His Neck
I have met some interesting folks along the way, trust me! Working in a church affords someone quite a few interesting experiences and I was definitely not exempt. One of my tasks in my last position was to help assess and administer our Compassion Fund. Mainly we gave out gas vouchers because that was something that no other agency in the area did and sometimes having $10 of gas made a difference. One day I met Harry. Harry and I had a relationship over the span of several months … [Read more...]
Savor the Experience
Boy, do I love a great cup of coffee! There is nothing like having a steaming cup of my favorite brew placed in front of me especially on a chilly day. My current favorite at my local hangout is a venti mocha, 2 percent, with raspberry and whipped cream. While it probably isn’t the most healthy choice I do relish that first taste! Funny that this has become my obsession in my “later” years when in my younger days I could hardly even stand the smell of coffee. Guess I have … [Read more...]
