Coffee For All!!!

Most of you know that I am a lover of tea.  But I also love my coffee.  Funny how that habit never formed until I was in my 40's....but form it did and I  am always up for the occasional cup.  My morning usually starts with a cup in bed while I check my emails, comments and Facebook.  Probably not the best idea to have a white duvet on the bed but I do and so far it has survived with only a couple little tan spots appearing on it over time.  I am the most careful of coffee drinkers, I … [Read more...]

Food and Friday Fill In’s

Let's start the day off right with some delightful food pictures!!!   Last night we had dinner with Micah and Angela at a fabulous place in 5 Points (Jacksonville) called Black Sheep.  It was wonderful and any place that focuses on fresh local "handcrafted" ingredients is okay with me.  We were not disappointed with any of our selections and service was great!       Are you hungry now???  It was a seriously good meal and the company was even … [Read more...]

It’s Just Life With Friends

Part of our recent trip was a trip back "home" to Mooresville, NC where we lived for about 9 years.  It seems a long time ago since we moved in 2007 and even though I have been back numerous times Chris has not made the trip with me.  Being the nice guy that he is he funds my trips !   But this time we made it a point to stop for the night there and see some friends and catch up. There is nothing like friends who know you, who have lived through life with you and walked similar paths. … [Read more...]

Oreos and Kit Kats Japanese Style

Not too long ago I posted a picture of some Green Tea Oreos that I had found in the paper.  You can see the post here.  I was thrilled that they made Oreos in such a neat flavor that seemed to be right up my alley.  I contacted my friend, Mr. Google, to see what I could find and lo and behold I found something on Mr. Ebay that was a pretty close match to what the article pictured.  After a little time with my other friend, Mr. Paypal, I had placed an order and my Japanese friend was going to … [Read more...]

Teapot Tuesday—Tea at the Fairmont Empress

My fabulous husband made sure that my anniversary trip was special in every way.  He took the planning very seriously and did all within his power to ensure that I had the best possible time and he was quite successful.  One of the very best things that he did was make a reservation for afternoon tea at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, British Columbia.  It was fabulous.  I oohed and ahhed.  I took it all in and loved the entire experience. After we had our wonderful "tea party" we had … [Read more...]

Fortunate

I have a passion for saving fortunes from fortune cookies.   I cleaned out my wallet and found 11.   Not surprising since we usually share Sunday dinner over at our favorite Japanese/Chinese restaurant--The Lantern.   I thought I would share them with you today!   These are some of the "better" ones I have saved. 1. Ask not what your fortune cookie can do for you but what you can do for your fortune cookie.  (I promptly ate it --that is what I could do for it.) 2. Your sparkle will … [Read more...]

An Unlikely Combo

I am always trying new recipes.  The problem is that with just Chris and I and half the time, just I, it is hard to cook in appropriate quantities.  As a result I end up eating said food for the entire week so hopefully it is a good recipe!  This past week have tried a couple of new recipes that I LOVE so I thought I would share. The first is a bit odd---I will admit but we both loved it and it is definitely a keeper.  Hang in there with me and give it a chance! Paul Qui's Brussel … [Read more...]

It’s All Good

I think I found my mother's twin today!  Right in my back yard.  Well, actually ---kind of in my front yard diagonally and about half a mile.  Still with me?   I had to go get some goodies to start preparations for my fabulous lunch of White Bean Swiss Chard soup for my main squeeze so I headed out to HyVee.  Now our HyVee has the great practice of giving the customer 5 cents credit for each and every bag that they bring in to use.  I have quite a collection of these fabulous bags since … [Read more...]
