Dangled Carat

My friend, Hilary, from Feeling Beachie fame has written a book and I was privileged to read an advance edition of it months ago.  It is a great memoir based on the commitment issues that her now husband, Marc, had and how they worked through it.  It is a really great book and I am privileged to have read it before it was actually published. Hilary is working on publishing options and has the book in the hands of two agents right now so things are looking very hopeful that this book will … [Read more...]

I May or May Not Be A Caribou

It is suddenly clear to me.  I have caribou blood in me even though my 23 and Me profile did not indicate it.  You see---I click when I walk.  Just the left knee--not the right but there is a definite clicking sound when I walk.  I noticed it a couple years ago and I suspect it is just further notice of my continual and ever present aging.  If I walk straight legged it does not click but according to my husband it is not very attractive to see me walking in that … [Read more...]

Epic!

Epic: : extending beyond the usual or ordinary especially in size or scope I believe that there is much in the world that is epic.  There are a lot of people that I think could be called epic.  There are a lot of situations that could be deemed epic.  There are a lot of places that are no doubt epic. Take a look around today.  What do you see that would qualify as epic?   In light of recent events I would have to say that I find some human behavior to be epic.  The law enforcement … [Read more...]

Memorial Day Thanks

Take some time away from the grill and the picnic today to be thankful for all who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.  It seems more real to me today than it has in past years with things that have happened recently.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all who have given their lives and who WILL give their lives to protect our freedoms.  There is a lot to be proud of  here in the United States and at the top of my list is my freedom to worship .  Enjoy your day but don't … [Read more...]

All Things Considered

All things considered I love the accessibility of social media. I love being able to have the world at my fingertips.  I absolutely love all of my electronic devices that allow me to post, chat, peruse, read and catch up with people in my life.  But sometimes.....sometimes......it works against me. I am on Facebook and have been for quite a few years.  I originally fought it when my sister, who was in graduate school at the time, tried to get me to join so that I could be a part of her … [Read more...]

An Attitude of Gratitude

To be ungrateful is sinful.  It is a failure to repay a moral debt.  There are degrees of ungratefulness. The first degree is to neglect to return a favor.  The second degree is to take no notice of the favor. The lowest degree in ingratitude is to fail even to admit to one's self that a favor has been given.  We are all familiar with ungrateful people--people who accept favors as if they were theirs by right, people who never thank anyone for favors, and people who never return a favor. … [Read more...]

Coffee For All!!!

Most of you know that I am a lover of tea.  But I also love my coffee.  Funny how that habit never formed until I was in my 40's....but form it did and I  am always up for the occasional cup.  My morning usually starts with a cup in bed while I check my emails, comments and Facebook.  Probably not the best idea to have a white duvet on the bed but I do and so far it has survived with only a couple little tan spots appearing on it over time.  I am the most careful of coffee drinkers, I … [Read more...]

Rogue Comments

One of the bonuses of having a blog is getting to read comments and as you know I am all about the comments!!!  I have a really great spam filter that catches most of the non-legitimate comments and I am VERY grateful to have that as the spam folder fills up fairly fast. If I had to wade through all those and subject the rest of my readers to those I would probably cry. But every now and then when I go to check and make sure that some of your valuable comments did not slip into the spam … [Read more...]

South of the Border

Everyone needs some tackiness in their life every now and then.  I was on a quest to find a tourist trap and find it I did!!!  On a trip to Charleston, SC I encountered the best example of tourist "trapiness" that I think I have ever experienced .  Right on the way on I 95 at the North Carolina/South Carolina line sits South of the Border. I was driving at that point so I took my husband hostage and pulled off to explore all that Pedro had to offer weary travelers on their way to the … [Read more...]
