Dangled Carat

My friend, Hilary, from Feeling Beachie fame has written a book and I was privileged to read an advance edition of it months ago.  It is a great memoir based on the commitment issues that her now husband, Marc, had and how they worked through it.  It is a really great book and I am privileged to have read it before it was actually published. Hilary is working on publishing options and has the book in the hands of two agents right now so things are looking very hopeful that this book will … [Read more...]

I May or May Not Be A Caribou

It is suddenly clear to me.  I have caribou blood in me even though my 23 and Me profile did not indicate it.  You see---I click when I walk.  Just the left knee--not the right but there is a definite clicking sound when I walk.  I noticed it a couple years ago and I suspect it is just further notice of my continual and ever present aging.  If I walk straight legged it does not click but according to my husband it is not very attractive to see me walking in that … [Read more...]

Epic!

Epic: : extending beyond the usual or ordinary especially in size or scope I believe that there is much in the world that is epic.  There are a lot of people that I think could be called epic.  There are a lot of situations that could be deemed epic.  There are a lot of places that are no doubt epic. Take a look around today.  What do you see that would qualify as epic?   In light of recent events I would have to say that I find some human behavior to be epic.  The law enforcement … [Read more...]

All Things Considered

All things considered I love the accessibility of social media. I love being able to have the world at my fingertips.  I absolutely love all of my electronic devices that allow me to post, chat, peruse, read and catch up with people in my life.  But sometimes.....sometimes......it works against me. I am on Facebook and have been for quite a few years.  I originally fought it when my sister, who was in graduate school at the time, tried to get me to join so that I could be a part of her … [Read more...]

An Attitude of Gratitude

To be ungrateful is sinful.  It is a failure to repay a moral debt.  There are degrees of ungratefulness. The first degree is to neglect to return a favor.  The second degree is to take no notice of the favor. The lowest degree in ingratitude is to fail even to admit to one's self that a favor has been given.  We are all familiar with ungrateful people--people who accept favors as if they were theirs by right, people who never thank anyone for favors, and people who never return a favor. … [Read more...]

Rogue Comments

One of the bonuses of having a blog is getting to read comments and as you know I am all about the comments!!!  I have a really great spam filter that catches most of the non-legitimate comments and I am VERY grateful to have that as the spam folder fills up fairly fast. If I had to wade through all those and subject the rest of my readers to those I would probably cry. But every now and then when I go to check and make sure that some of your valuable comments did not slip into the spam … [Read more...]

More Than Can Be Handled

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to us all. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.  1 Corinthians 10: 13  Today's New International Version You know, if you have followed me or known me very long, that I am a believer.  I don't try to preach on this blog but there are times when my heart feels led to post something spiritual or religious.  I make no … [Read more...]

10 Ways to Turn Your Day Around

Start your day with your favorite beverage.  If that beverage is alcoholic you may want to save that for later in the day but a good cup of coffee or tea made just the right way or gotten from your favorite coffee shop is a winner! Take a walk or run outside!!!  Even if the weather is less than perfect (which is about 90% of the time where I currently live) there is something about getting out in the great outdoors that turns my sad into glad. Have a good long cry and pity party.  Then … [Read more...]

I’m A People Person!

Recently a blogger friend, Karen,  posted a Personality Test result  on her blog over on one of her blogs.  I first found Karen at Grab a Book From Our Stack where she and her husband read and review quite a number of books. They have a couple of blogs and the fact is that I got the Comments for a Cause idea from them a couple years ago!   I don't visit there as often as I used to but I still enjoy reading what they post every now and then!   On this particular day when I surfed over there … [Read more...]

Worry Me Not

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life ?  "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field … [Read more...]
