Those Who Make A Difference

“Each of us can look back upon someone who made a great difference in our lives, someone whose wisdom or simple acts of caring made an impression upon us. In all likelihood it was someone who sought no recognition for their deed other than the joy of knowing that, by their hand, another's life had been made better.” Stephen M. Wolf We all have them.  Those saints who have touched our lives and made a difference in all that matters in our world.  People who make a difference without … [Read more...]

Just Another Day in A Hot Paradise

I am spending a fun filled albeit hot week at Lakeside, Ohio.  It is a fabulous week filled with many happy events--the main one being the ordination of my sister into the United Methodist Church as an elder.  It has been a long road for her---one that has required a lot of both her and her husband. Last night we shared with others as the bishop made it official and what a wonderful time for all of us.  I know my Daddy was smiling down on her.  I am very proud of her. It is also a time to … [Read more...]

The New Cause

This month has been fabulous for Comments for a Cause.  Even though WordPress has instituted some weird changes that have made it difficult for folks to leave comments at times you guys hung in there and made 418 comments.  Add to the personal emails and comments on Facebook that I received and I am happy to say that $225 will be going to the Humane Society of North Iowa for the month of March.   Way to go!!! I have a special cause for April.  Seems that I always find just the right one … [Read more...]

An Island of Wonderfulness

Every once in awhile I get surprised.  And when I do it is a wonderful thing.   Today was one of those days. It has been an interesting week.  I have learned a lot of things that I never thought I would learn but it is all a good thing!!!!!!  You know that comment I made awhile back about wanting to be a nurse when I grew up until I realized that I fainted at the sight of blood???  Well, I am learning that I can do some of those "tasks" for loved ones if needed.  Thank goodness there … [Read more...]

And Are We Yet Alive?

This week I am enjoying my annual retreat from reality.  Though my husband would probably say that I retreat daily.....nonetheless--I am enjoying R & R, family time, vacation, and worship all rolled into one!   I am at Lakeside on Lake Erie for the week ---I grew up coming here this time each year with my family as it is the week of East Ohio Annual Conference for the United Methodist Church.  Since my Daddy was a UM minister it was part of what we did each year.  While he sat in … [Read more...]
